26 Aug Alum Builds a Safer Digital World
Technology is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate safely, especially for older adults facing email scams, malicious links, and fake accounts. That concern inspired one Bi-Cultural alum to help seniors protect themselves online.
Jake Davidson (BCHA MS ’20) was at a Shabbat dinner when he learned that a friend’s grandmother had recently lost $10,000 to a scammer posing as a family member over the phone. Davidson soon realized how common these scams are among older adults and was inspired to help.
He created CyberAware, an organization that trains teen volunteers to teach seniors how to navigate technology and recognize common scams.
Today, CyberAware offers presentations and online resources and provides libraries and senior centers across the country with cybersecurity materials. The organization has expanded to 15 cities and more than 100 libraries, with more than 40 volunteers.
For his work with CyberAware, Davidson was recently named a recipient of the 2026 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award. The Diller Foundation gives the award annually to 15 Jewish teenagers whose work reflects a commitment to community, social justice, and education. Each recipient receives $36,000.
“Getting to meet others through the Diller Foundation who share Jewish values and feel the same responsibility to live them out, to take those values and actually make the world a better place, has been incredible,” said Davidson. “That shared sense of purpose through our work of tikkun olam is something I’ll carry with me the rest of my life.”
A proud BCHA alum and rising senior at Babson College, Davidson has carried lessons from his time at BCHA into his work.
“I attended BCHA for elementary and middle school, and it’s where the foundation of my values and ethics started,” he said. “It helped build my sense of leadership and gave me a strong Jewish community to lean on, and that’s stayed with me and supported me throughout.”
Those values continue to shape Davidson’s work through CyberAware.
