19 Dec BCHA Alum David Fogel Stops by to Chat With Eighth-Graders
Great thanks also goes to BCHA alumnus David Fogel, who came to school this week and addressed our 8th graders as part of the Nancy z”l and Kamal Haron Leadership Program. David is executive director of the NBA Coaches Association and previously served as its associate general counsel. This esteemed position gave him great “street cred” with our 8th graders who listened to what he had to say very carefully. David gave the students a beautiful message, that succeeding as a lawyer, or in any position of leadership, requires the ability to generate trust by being authentic, empathetic and listening carefully to the needs of others. “Be concerned about how people see you,” David said, “Do they trust you? Do they respect your leadership? Do they perceive you to be a kind person?” Valuable advice, for sure. David also encouraged our students to, “step out of your comfort zone as much as possible.”
Thank you to David Giver, Adrianne Robinson and Beth Fritz for their hard work in arranging these important visits and conversations with our students.
