19 Dec BCHA Shines During Memorable Chanukah Season
This Chanukah season, BCHA students, staff, and faculty celebrated the holiday in a variety of meaningful ways. From school-wide assemblies designed to teach and inspire to community outreach trips to Stamford Hospital and Atria Senior Living, every activity was guided by gratitude, a core theme woven into BCHA’s curriculum as the school celebrates its 70th year.
To kick off the week, BCHA’s first-grade students traveled to Atria, an assisted living facility in Stamford, CT, for their first chesed trip. Over the course of two days, students sang Chanukah songs, led craft activities, and spent meaningful time with residents.
Later in the week, students from pre-K through 8th grade gathered for a school-wide assembly to sing Chanukah songs, light the menorah, and learn about the history and significance of the holiday. Students reflected on themes of perseverance and hope while sharing in the joy of celebrating together as one school community.
Finally, after several weeks of collecting donations from families and community members, BCHA’s 8th-grade students traveled to Stamford Hospital to deliver gifts to patients throughout the hospital. In total, BCHA delivered nearly 600 new toys to David’s Treasure Chest, a dedicated toy closet in the pediatric wing. The visit offered students a hands-on opportunity to bring light and comfort to others.
