BCHA Students Earn High Marks at CIJE Innovation Day

Students in BCHA’s Upper School were recently recognized for their achievements at the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) Innovation Day. Two groups participated in the engineering and design competition, where teams pitched their projects to a panel of judges.

BCHA students earned first place in two categories. Achiezer Blickstein, Yoav Hochman, Ephraim Stock and Roberto Toraty won first place in the Best in Pitch category for their product Smart Bin, an AI-powered trash bin that sorts recyclable materials from waste.

Hanah Bahar, Caleb Hochberg and Joshua Schwartz took first place in the Best in Engineering Design Process category for their product BetterBowl, a tool for pet owners to monitor their animals’ health and eating habits. The product uses Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to restrict access, track weight and food intake and send alerts to owners through a mobile app.

For their work on Smart Bin, Blickstein, Hochman, Stock and Toraty were invited to pitch their project to a panel of investors at CIJE Tank 2025, a Shark Tank–style competition featuring the top engineering projects from more than 500 entries.
