BCHA Welcomes Guest Speaker for 9/11 Memorial

Recently, BCHA welcomed guest speaker Jamie Lassner. As a first responder at Ground Zero, Jamie shared a moving, deeply meaningful message with our Middle and Upper School students about the importance of remembering, honoring those we lost, and finding strength in community.

Jamie spoke candidly about his experience on September 11th, not just the events of that day, but what it meant to show up for others in the face of tragedy, and how community carried people through their darkest moments. Students listened closely as he reflected on loss, resilience, and the responsibility that comes with remembering.

For many students, this was the first time they’d heard history recounted firsthand rather than read about it in a textbook, a reminder that empathy grows deepest when we listen to the people who lived it.

In listening to Jamie’s story, students both learned about a moment in history and learned what it looks like to lead with courage and show up for one another, no matter the cost.
