Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy (BCHA) Comes Together to Celebrate Thanksgiving

From food drives to festive class celebrations, gratitude filled the halls of BCHA last week as students and staff marked one of the school’s most community-centered Thanksgiving seasons yet. Across the lower school, every grade hosted its own Thanksgiving meal, featuring dishes prepared by teachers and students, Thanksgiving songs, and guided moments of reflection. Students shared what they were most thankful for, turning each grade’s gathering into a thoughtful celebration of the holiday’s meaning.

BCHA’s upper school also played a significant role in the week’s activities. The school’s DECA club, which prepares students with entrepreneurial knowledge and is led by sophomore Dane Mitchell, launched a coordinated food drive to support local families facing food insecurity. They prepared donation boxes, promoted the initiative throughout the school, and collected an assortment of non-perishable items that were delivered ahead of the holiday. The effort not only met an immediate community need but also demonstrated the students’ commitment to service.

Last week’s events showcased BCHA’s ongoing emphasis on gratitude as an essential part of school culture. By engaging all students in celebration and service, the school strengthened its ties to the broader community and reinforced the values it seeks to instill throughout the year.
