UPPER SCHOOL

Special Programs

The Upper School program includes a variety of special programs throughout the year. These include holiday events, Shabbatons, academic competitions, guest speakers, and more. Students celebrate holidays, both Jewish and American; highlights include our annual Sukkot party, Purim Seudah, Chanukah banquet, and Thanksgiving Dinner-for-Lunch—plus all-school Yom Ha’Atzma’ut programming and commemoration of Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaShoah. Multiple Shabbatonim each year round out comprehensive and joyful programming designed to build community and enhance connection. On the humanities side, our students participate in a poetry slam and Renaissance Fair, and interested students are involved in poetry competitions, student newspaper, yearbook, and literary magazine. In STEM, our physics students design and race carton carts in an annual carton cart race, and our engineering students win awards every year at the CIJE Engineering Day competition. Additionally, in recent years, students have heard from experts in political science, Jewish philosophy, Tanakh study, history, and mental health.
