MIDDLE SCHOOL

English Language Arts

Bi-Cultural’s theme-based ELA program is driven by the central concepts of survival (Sixth), identity (Seventh), and resilience (Eighth). Through a structured program of reading, writing, grammar, mechanics, and vocabulary, students develop a strong ability to synthesize information and to bring fully-developed ideas to their forays into formal and creative writing.

Novels, plays, short stories, memoirs, and the like provide the students with the opportunity to explore the ideas of the author and how the author’s choices impact all aspects of the literary work. By Seventh and Eighth grade, these skills are honed through a historical lens which allows for a holistic, humanities approach to the process of writing that helps students to be prepared for the next steps in the educational paths, as they enter high school.
